Margie Ricardo has exhibited in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Cornwall. She was born in Cornwall, in 1950. She has a unique style in her watercolours, that have subtle reminiscents of her late uncle, John Verney's illustrations. She interplays with humour and personality, often painting onsite, which gives the paintings their sponteneity. Margie completed an Art foundation at Bath University, and has had further training in courses held in different locations in Devon, Cornwall, Wiltshire, Gloscestershire and Italy.
Her success has been due to her ability to seize colour and texture, which is most visible in Margie's oil lanscape paintings. I have been busy creating monoprints of the cornish mine engines. In the prints I have incorporated the some of the souls of the children that died whislt working in the mines. Cornwall has a very dark history.
